So sorry to hear this Nic. I was actually wondering about Shauna a few weeks back - this is really sad news. Thinking of you. :)

Nic, I am so so sorry to hear the news about Shauna. Judging from the pages you've shared here, the book you made for her was absolutely beautiful. I had tears in my eyes reading your note to her, and I'm sure it was a source of consolation and warmth for her in these last few years. Holding her family and her friends in my thoughts at this sad time.

Shauna was an amazing person. She will live on in the hearts of so many people she touched over the years. Hugs to you.

I am so sorry for your lost, cancer is something we need to eradicate from this world. We have lost too many good women and men to it, but remember your brave friend Shauna is now pain free. {{{HUGS}}}

I am so sad. She will be missed!!

I am so sorry for your loss Nic- and I can only imagine how difficult it was for you to write these words. When I lost my dad a few years back, I came across some words that helped me- and really, not much did- buut even now, with the pain still like a knife in my heart- i find comfort in this-its by Henry van Dyke and its called "Gone From my Sight" :

"I am standing upon the seashore. A ship at my side
spreads her white sails to the morning breeze and
starts for the blue ocean. She is an object of beauty
and strength. I stand and watch her until at length
she hangs like a speck of white cloud just where
the sea and sky come to mingle with each other.

Then someone at my side says: "There, she is gone!"

"Gone where?"

Gone from my sight. That is all. She is just as large in
mast and hull and spar as she was when she left my side and
she is just as able to bear her load of living freight to her
destined port.

Her diminished size is in me, not in her. And just at the
moment when someone at my side says: "There, she is gone!"
there are other eyes watching her coming, and other voices
ready to take up the glad shout: "Here she comes!"

And that is dying."

My thoughts are with you- and all your families.

Nic, I feel for you. lovey; I do know how it feels to lose a soooooo special friend to cancer. I, too, had followed your link to Shauna's blog on many occasions, and I was very sad to read today that she has died. She knew how much you loved her, and that is one of life's greatest blessings. Thank you for sharing your thoughts with us in 'blogland'.

I'm sorry for your loss.

Your book meant so much to her, and will be a lasting tribute for her family. Thanks for all of your emails and friendship. Love to you, Nic. Paris
