It's a long weekend for us here in the north and traditionally it is the hottest week of the year. Traditional doesn't always happen though, and last night we sat around with neighbours, enjoying a few drinks with blankets wrapped around us and the kids cuddled up on the couches inside. It's certainly no traditional summer, we haven't had decent heat all season.
Looking at the clothing in this layout says it all, really. These are photos from Hahei - our annual beach trip. Usually we take a jersey but don't put it on all holiday. This year we lived in warm clothes and we were often stuck in our bach, watching the rain fall outside.
I guess there is good and bad that goes with a freaky season like this. Bad being that I'm seriously mourning for the summer that should have been. I feel like if I don't get a week of hot weather somewhere, I'm going to go into winter struggling. I love my summer so much. Good news is that I've scrapped a little this summer. I've created layouts for no reason at all - and the pics I use won't be the typical summer ones either. Something different for a change. Maybe change ain't so bad.

Yeah what is with that, our week in Auckland for the foo Fighters concert the weather was shocking! Saturday saw Timaru with 28 degress, NZ 's high - perhaps it is time for another family holiday to the big smoke down here lol.
LOVE the layout Nic - nearly makes me want to break out my scrappin stuff and do a layout :-)

I am laughing so hard right now!! We have been bodyboarding, swimming at the beach, sweating, wearing shorts and t-shirts and jandals and generally reveling in summer since October and are completely baffled that everyone else seems to have missed it! I guess it's all relative - and relative to the UK this summer has been AWESOME. Next summer, if we get one that is acceptable by NZ standards, I'll be wilting and complaining of the heat, no doubt :P

I feel the same about summer Nic. We headed to the beach last night for fish & chips for dinner & it was freezing. Glad we spent 3 weeks of our holidays on the Gold Coast :o) Hopefully Waitangi weekend will be warmer.

Sorry to hear summer isn't as hot as usual. Im recovering from sore shoulders from beaching and surfing four days in a row but hey the crappy weather will no doubt be upon us very shortly as usual. One day great the next yuck.. Great layout too as usual - love your work...
